ABOUT THE CHALLENGE
In partnership with Community Development Advocates of Detroit (CDAD), CultureSource, and College for Creative Studies, Design Core’s City of Design Challenge invites participants to explore ways to build community resilience in times of disruption through resident driven ideas for unifying residents and building systems for connecting and communicating throughout the city. This year’s challenge was made possible with financial support from the Hudson-Webber Foundation.
2023 THEME: COMMUNITY RESILIENCY
For years, Detroiters have worked to adapt to many unexpected circumstances. This is not new for our community, which has experienced many shocks over time – whether environmental, health, social, or economic. Detroiters have proven their resiliency, innovation and perseverance through it all.
This challenge invites teams to develop concepts that will focus on improving the experiences of residents and offering greater access to public services in community spaces by uplifting inclusive and equitable solutions that can help a neighborhood rebound from an unexpected shock – whether environmental, health, social, or economic.
THE APPLICATION FOR DESIGN TEAMS WILL BE OPEN FROM JANUARY 20, UNTIL MIDNIGHT MARCH 19
