Recurring Event Event Series: City Walls Artists Showcase

City Walls Artists Showcase

November 19, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 2:30 pm

Celebrate the Third Season of the City Walls Detroit program. 20 or more artists who created City murals will showcase and sell their work.

The City of Detroit General Services Department – Parks and Recreation Division and H&P | SpaceLab Detroit invite you to celebrate Detroit City Walls Artists and the work they created to beautify our neighborhoods and rec centers.

Artists will showcase their work at the former workspace of late artist, muralist, and sculptor Charles McGee. You can view and purchase work from one of our many artists – they keep 100% of the proceeds.

Art makes perfect holiday gifts!

Friday, Nov. 18, 6-9:30 pm: Artist showcase, meet the artists, view and purchase art.
18 and up only, please. Light refreshments and adult beverages will be served on Friday.

About City Walls: The City of Detroit launched the City Walls program in the Summer of 2017. The new initiative integrates a multifaceted approach to enhancing public space by focusing on an essential urban element: the city wall.

The goals of the program are to highlight the values and the identity of the communities where art work is being created, empower Detroit artists, and to provide a positive cost benefit to the public via art versus the cost of blight remediation. Read more >>

In 2017 Marygrove College designated the area as the Charles McGee Community Commons.
