Through interactive exercises\, you’ll learn how to structure your story\, design a visually polished slide deck\, and present with confidence. We’ll also look at real-world examples of successful funding pitches to help you understand what works—and how to apply it to your own. \nThe journey continues with: \nSession 2 (Mar. 11): Deepen your skills by refining your message into a concise\, memorable elevator pitch while learning how to connect authentically and communicate your “why.” Spaces are limited—register early to secure your spot! \nSession 3 (Mar. 18): Put it all into action by pitching to a panel of community leaders and receiving tailored feedback in a real-world setting. \nNote: Attendance at Sessions 1 & 2 is required in order to participate in Session 3 and pitch in front of our judges. Investigations into spatial configurations in healthcare settings examine their impact on medical anxiety\, patient recovery\, and staff efficiency. Employing computational analysis alongside evidence-based design\, Vance evaluates how architectural elements\, such as circulation patterns and sensory experiences\, influence patient comfort\, stress reduction\, and clinical efficiency. \nThe lecture extends to the audience a discussion of publics in architecture\, the role of health capacity in urban infrastructure\, and housing. Vance will be examining the relationship between environmental stressors and health outcomes\, particularly health resilience. The ultimate goal is to share a framework that accommodates a wide range of users\, ensuring spaces are not only accessible but also responsive to the diverse human experience. Vance will argue that\, by collaborating with public health researchers\, medical professionals\, and engineers\, design research in architecture bridges the gap between architectural practice and healthcare policy. \nHealth capacity is an emerging consideration for optimizing building design to meet health criteria across physical\, virtual\, historical\, and social spaces. This talk will also be livestreamed. \nJakob’s presentation on Tuesday\, February 24 titled ‘Tangible Experience vs. the Slop Feed\,’ will get you thinking about physical interactivity while offering a familiarization with the creative tech experience design industry and an understanding of how physical interaction fits in the built environment. \nIn our world of infinite scrolling\, the act of pulling a perfectly-tuned physical lever feels almost dreamlike. Our feeds have become incredibly good at keeping us locked in\, and generative AI has made them even harder to break away. Our feeds are personal\, predictive\, and effortless. And because of that\, it’s increasingly forgettable. \nAs experience designers\, we can choose between: \n\nFlicking your thumb and engaging your arms.\nDarting your eyes and craning your neck.\nEarbuds that isolate and vibrations that shake your bones.\n\nThis talk is about designing experiences you can touch\, push\, lean on\, and feel in your body; not just in your thumbs. Levers\, buttons\, dials\, light\, sound\, vibration. Experiences that take effort\, introduce friction\, and happen around other people in the same space. \nI’ll walk through Deeplocal projects that prioritize touch\, force\, light\, sound\, and motion—and how we’re thinking about using AI not to isolate people further\, but to reconnect them to each other and to the spaces they’re in. \nThis informative presentation will be moderated by Associate Professor of Architecture Lee-Su Huang. \n\n\n\nAs part of CoAD’s Design x Technology Series\, this event is free and open to the public. Dive into the powerful themes behind Blue Lives Matter  as Rave shares insights and stories about his work.  \nDon’t miss this chance to connect\, ask questions\, and get inspired by the artist himself. It’s going to be a thought-provoking event you’ll want to be a part of! \nThis exhibition brings together two interconnected bodies of work—the Reagan Series and the Smurks Series—that examine how systems of power shape lives long before consent is ever possible. \n\n\n\nTony Rave approaches both series with deep personal urgency rooted in lived observation. Growing up in Detroit\, he witnessed how policy becomes personal and how slogans\, symbols\, and public messaging quietly embed themselves into private lives. His work does not chase shock value or reenact trauma; it insists on honesty.  \nEach piece invites the viewer to slow down\, sit with the imagery\, and confront it through the lens of their own experience. Many of the works in this exhibition are still in progress\, making the show a snapshot of an evolving practice rather than a fixed or resolved statement. \nBy drawing on familiar characters and visual language\, his work questions how innocence and authority become intertwined\, and how imagery influences belief\, belonging\, and control.
